The human mind is capable of amazing things. It is also capable of horrific things. The confusing and oftentimes conflicting information we are exposed to about science and technology can be extremely difficult to understand, especially if the material is dense or unfamiliar.

The sciences are not the same as the technologies for making things happen. Technology can help us solve problems, but it cannot replace real science. To understand science you need to learn about how it works and what it means to the world.

The difference between science and technology is great, but I believe the distinction is overstated. Good science can be achieved by either. Both require a mind that is free to be creative.

As technology, science and technology are each distinct disciplines, we should separately consider them.
